Machine-sawn edges create crisp 3-5 mm joints and the lightly riven surface provides natural grip in wet weather. The generous format reduces joint lines, speeding patio installation. Rich blue-black mineral tones give contemporary style and tend to disguise day-to-day marks. Dense slate has low water absorption, so it resists frost and algae, cutting annual maintenance. A note of slight bowing is normal in large-format slate; allow a little extra coverage during planning.
